Dear readers,
This will be the final post for Truth From the Hip. My father, Richard Glenn, passed away on Sunday, March 27th, overtaken by cancer. He was surrounded by his entire family, and several of his closest friends.
I would like to personally thank you all for reading this blog, and posting your comments, and sending personal emails to Dad. Over the last several years, this space became his primary concern, and the final outlet for his gift of teaching.
He truly cherished each and every visit to this space, and would check his “hit count” on a daily (and sometimes hourly!) basis, to see how many people were visiting. Right before he took ill, he asked me to begin thinking about a redesign for the site, because he wanted something brighter and more inviting. He loved each and every one of you, and spoke often about “his readers.” I can’t even recall how many times I awoke in the middle of the night to find him in his office, illuminated by the light of the computer monitor, hunched over the keyboard and hen-pecking his latest post. The memory makes me smile.
During his final week, he expressed his wish for me to bring a laptop to the hospital so he could dictate an update for this site. We tried to coordinate this a few times, but his ability to speak coherently was intermittent, and it never worked out.
I did, however, ask him what he wished to happen for this website if he should go away, and he said that decision was up to me. I see no reason to close this down. This site is, in many ways, Dad’s final outreach to the world that he loved, the world that he wished to reach. It breaks my heart that he can’t be with us any more, but it warms my heart to know that the message which meant so much to him can continue to reach the world. Truly, deeply, and in a way that only he could, he loved each and every one of you.
For those who wish to attend, here are the details for his public viewing, and the memorial service:

Thanks so much for sending out this post. I enjoyed Rich’s site so much. It helped me me in many ways and I was always looking forward to his teaching. He was a great man of God, fantastic preacher and a dear friend. I love you Rich and can’t wait to see you again!
I am so sorry to hear of the passing of our father. My deepest sympathy to you and your family. He is with God’s army now. We are often called to serve on the farthest ‘front’.

Psalm 116: 15
Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.
Precious saint, there is victory over Satan and disease in the death and eternal life of a believer. This is the start of many new adventures for you, I have no doubt you will embrace them, and continue to be useful and serve the Lord for an eternity in heaven.
I will be sure to look you up when I get there.
God’s peace on your family. In Jesus Name.
His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’
Matthew 25:21
To Rich,
My compliments to your life well done. You were a good and faithful servant.
Your Truth from the Hip is now Truth Face To Face as you enter into His joy.
Thanks for sharing His Truth with us so faithfully.
In my spirit I hear you exclaiming to Jesus ‘This place is really awesome!’
To the Glenn family. My condolences and sympathy are with you. We will all miss him so much. May the Lord send His comforter to give you peace.

Rob, that was very good comment you posted.
I am really glad you have decided to keep the website up. I too learned a lot from Rich and he was an important spiritual guide to me. I will be referring back here for some of my favorite teachings he did (the Proverbs series was excellent) when I need some reinforcement and encouragement.
I am so excited you have decided to keep this site going. I am so sorry about your father. I am a long time friend of his. It is a great loss to me. I lift all of the family up in prayers. God Bless
I too am thankful for the notice of Rich’s passing and knowledge that his site would remain. He (and Denise) have so many fans. His commentaries are so helpful to those like me who may want clarification of the Word from a trusted source in the wee hours of the night when the world sleeps. God bless you Glenn family! May the Lord keep you in perfect peace until you are reunited.
Very well written Paul. Your Dad would be very proud! You never know…maybe you and your Mom will post commentaries here too…and so IS Richard Glenn’s legacy! Curt said it best to me this morning. The greatest way to honor Rich is to live what he preached. I will truly miss my friend. I loved his radical ways! Now he is in glory and Jesus is saying look at all the crowns I’m giving you for all the lives you have touched. A good lesson for us all…Preach and share and live the Word of God at all cost with no worries about what man will say or do, and we will all receive the same reward that Rich is experiencing right now. I love you Rich. I WILL see you again.
I will forever miss my dear, dear grandpa. I know it’s October, and sometimes it’s hard to revisit this post. I’m not sure why I do… but I think it’s because it’s about my grandpa. I love him with all of my heart. Maybe I revisit this because I know his final post was right underneath it and I would always know how to find it because this one is right before it. I will forever miss you grandpa, and I’m so sad that you didn’t have the chance to see my last Christmas before I become a teen, Ryan’s many accomplishments, Reagan going to school, Liam be in advanced reading class, Lily get her DSi, or Emmy being more of, well, Emmy. I miss you, I really do. I can’t wait to see you again.Thank you for holding my Kermit until the end. I know you thought about us all, and I hope it brought you comfort. I love you grandpa…. I’m your Sweetface forever and ever.
Love,
Sweetface
Caitlyn, What a sweet post. Just remember that you can post here anytime that you want to, as much as you want to. Like writing grandpa a letter. I believe that he sees it from heaven. You are such a dear, sweet granddaughter and we love you so much. xoxoxoxoxo Grandpa (in heaven) Grandma (on earth)
